The 6th international conference “Reading and literacy in education and culture: A digital dimension”
You are welcome to the 6th international conference “Reading and literacy in education and culture: A digital dimension” taking place 2-4 April 2020 in Moscow.
Theme: Reading and Literacy in the digital environment: context, trends, issues.
The conference is supported by the Federation of European Literacy Associations, the Russian State Library, the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communication, the Psychological Institute of the Russian Academy of Education, the Academic Council on Reading of the Russian Academy of Education, the Odintsovo Branch of MGIMO University, the Publishing House Direct-Media.
The main fields of interest reflected in the conference programme will be:
- Philosophy, physiology, psychology, sociology, the linguistics of digital reading in the first and second language.
- Multiliteracies in the digital environment.
- Digital reading at school, university, workplace, library, home. A reading pupil, student, adult.
- The digital environment as an incentive and disincentive for reading, learning, culture development.
- Support for and development of reading in the digital environment via civil society partnerships in education, culture, book publishing and selling, communications etc.
The format of the conference will embrace plenary sessions, section meetings, a session of the Institute of Reading, poster presentations, symposia, and workshops.
The conference will be a meeting place for teachers, psychologists, sociologists, experts in cultural studies, librarians, linguists, writers, booksellers, operators of electronic libraries, civil society organizations advocating literacy, readers and activists. Experts from foreign countries will take part and their presentations will be interpreted simultaneously.

Abstract submission dates: 15 January-15 February
Conference proceedings: Abstracts will be published prior to the conference.
Abstracts should be downloaded via a personal account at the conference website http://conference-mbco.ru January-15 February 2020.
PowerPoint presentations will be posted at the conference website with the permission of the authors.
A volume of collected papers from this conference will subsequently be published in the journal Homo Legens – 12 on 26 November 2020. Articles should be submitted by 30 July 2020. The journal is funded by the Reading Association of Russia.
Certificates will be sent by 16 April 2020 to the e-mail provided by the participant during the registration.
Abstract guidelines:
Abstracts should include the presentation title, the name of the researcher, his/her affiliations, country, E-mail.
Abstracts should be approximately 300 words and should not include tables, graphs, formulae, pictures.
